Initial Steps for All Financial Aid

  1. Review your Graduation Date on the Student Portal
In order to award accurate financial aid, we need to know when you plan on graduating. Log in to my.pointloma.edu, click on ‘Students’ scroll down and click on ‘Biographical Information in the ‘Profile Information’ section. Scroll down to see what your ‘Planned Graduation’ date is. If it is incorrect, click on the pencil next to the header of the section and update it to the session you believe you will complete your program
  2. File a FAFSA
Go to http://www.fafsa.gov to file your FAFSA. Please file your FAFSA as soon as possible to ensure timely processing of your financial aid. If you already have a PIN number, you will use it to electronically sign or you will create one upon completion of the FAFSA. You can retrieve a duplicate or request a PIN at http://www.pin.ed.gov. After completing the FAFSA, a SAR will be sent to you via e-mail. This report gives you a summary of the information you provided on your FAFSA. You will need to review the entire report to verify that all information is accurate. You only need to update the SAR report if corrections need to be made; otherwise, please print and keep it for your records. PLNU’s School Code: 001262
  3. Submit verification documents
As a result of filing a FAFSA, the federal government may require additional documentation. The PLNU Student Financial Services Office will notify you if you have been selected for verification. To ensure timely processing of your financial aid awards, please make sure all documents are signed and submitted promptly. For more information, please contact the Office of Student Financial Services.
  4. Receive PLNU Award Letter
After all applications and paperwork are completed and processed, you will receive an electronic PLNU Financial Aid Award Letter via e-mail (Undergraduate freshman will receive a paper award letter). The award letter will direct you to your student portal where you can view the aid amounts for which you are eligible, as well as how funds will be disbursed for the loan period. Follow the instructions on your award letter to Accept, Decline, or reduce your loan amount
